SB 234 is scheduled for debate on the House floor this Wednesday. Today would bea very influential day to contact our representatives. The House is a big body, so for times sake, focus on the Republicans. An easy way to contact them is to call the general number 444-4800 and leave a simple message to vote yes for SB 234. Thank you! |

Reply with quote | #48 | CAN I GET A 'WOOO HOOO'? Hey everyone, we did it! Brandon's Bill is going to be a law. We passed the house 75-24! We are headed to the governor's desk! This is such a huge victory for all of Montana's kids and we feel so honored to have had the chance to represent them! This is for Decker, Brandon, Jake, Luca, Isaac, Kaidence, Cassie, the list goes on and on!!! This is a case of the little guy coming up on top. I don't want to brag but, we were up against, lobbyists, insurance companies, big industry and big money and we won! Thank you for all your help and time that you invested into this project!!!! How sweet it is! If you can take time to contact those legislators one more time and give them a simple thanks. Until my baby has the ability to say it for himself, you'll have to settle for hearing it from us, THANK YOU!!!! Will and Charlie Cote |

WOOO HOOO!! Does everyone realize the nation-wide effect this will have? The effort and dedication from everyone involved has set a precedence that will have a domino effect throughout our country! Not only have you done something amazing for your children, but for untold others. My heart swells with pride and admiration when I realize that I know the people and community that accomplished this! With High Regard, Ann Brower |

Reply with quote | #50 | Will and I want to invite anyone who might want to come over to our house this Monday, the 27th. We will be celebrating the passing of our bill, appreciating our ABA teachers, and having dinner. As we are nearing the end of our funds for Decker's therapy, my friend Cassie will have her line of Faith Jewelry available to buy and order. She will be forfitting all of her profits and giving them to Decker. This jewelry is awesome, some big and funky, some antique style, some christian based crosses, some small for little girls, all beautiful and affordable. Please come on over and visit, check out the classroom, meet Decker, hang out, eat and be merry!!!! This is an open door to friends and strangers...come anytime Monday afternoon or evening. Thanks and we'll see you then, hopefully not in the snow. Again, thanks to everyone for the support you've given our family! Charlie |

Hey all, Just wanted to let everyone know that there will be an official bill signing ceremony in Billings tomorrow @ 2 at the Riverstone Health conference room. It should be a great celebration that I wish we could be a part of. I would love to have a picture of Decker with the governor for his own life’s history and sentimental value. Billings, however, is a long trip for us and we won’t be attending. Being a part of the work and victory for Montana’s kids is way more gratifying to me than the ‘public hoopla’. I pray that tomorrow all the glory is given to the Lord and that SB 234 is only the beginning of the change that will happen for all that are affected by Autism. Thank you for all that you have done to assist in this victory! Everyone’s role was unique and important with one common goal, our kids! The Cote Family |

Reply with quote | #53 | Decker is in need of sky mile donation! Our family, with the help of some super people, has been flying our ABA instructor from Utah at least everyother month. As you can imagine, this is very costly. We would love to have some donations of sky miles. It would be a huge blessing! Thanks! 676-0103 |

Reply with quote | #55 | The following is a letter to the editor that we submitted to the Journal, Leader and Char-Koosta...
Let us count the reasons we are blessed to live in the Mission Valley. For our family, our list got even longer this last Wednesday. We were invited to share a potluck supper with the members of the Leon Club. They graciously welcomed us and our children and we were able to share our personal story. Their interest in our son's Autism, his treatment program, our political victory was great. We felt honored to share our testimony, struggles and successes with such a receptive group. A few faces were familiar and by the end of the evening we were speaking to a room full of friends. After we left that evening the Leon Club continued with their regularly scheduled business meeting where they made the decision to fund our son's Autism treatment for an entire month! The news was delivered to us that evening over the telephone and our hearts were warmed and our eyes full of tears. If ever we are asked why we live here, it isn't the rugged mountains, the majestic lake, nor is it the slow-paced rural life...IT IS THE PEOPLE! This community is exceptional! Thank you, Leon Club, for loving our son! You have been a blessing to our family. Until our son has the ability to say it himself, you'll have to settle for hearing it from us, THANK YOU!! Will, Charlie, Carter, Decker and Timber Cote |

We are nearing our big AUTISM AWARENESS theme for Pioneer Days! "Making all the pieces fit" will be the theme. We are hoping to raise awareness and touch as many of the different facets of the fair and pioneer days as we can. If anyone has time to lend a hand...we would love it. Reply with quote | #59 | The time is nearing and we are busily making plans to get this Autism Awareness Theme for Pioneer Days underway. Making All The Pieces Fit is the motto. We are using this as a platform to raise awareness and help out some wonderful Montana based Autism organizations. This community has helped us so much that this is a chance to give back. Please contact us if you are able to help us out. We need man power to pull this off. Thank you so much! The Cotes 676-0103 coteranch@ronan.net |

| | 07/08/09 Autism Votes... It's time for lawmakers to listen. | Dear Autism Advocate, Today, Autism Speaks has launched its first national television advocacy campaign. Our ad, entitled “Neighbors,” depicts the consequences of insurance company discrimination against individuals with autism and calls on the American public to urge Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to end autism insurance discrimination in the upcoming health care reform legislation. We need YOUR help to make this a reality! “Neighbors” will be broadcast on CNN, MSNBC and CNBC, reaching millions of informed and politically active Americans. Watch our TV Ad. Then, ensure your voice is heard by calling Majority Leader Reid and Speaker Pelosi today! | | | Here is How YOU Can Help: | 1. CALL SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE NANCY PELOSI & SENATE MAJORITY LEADER HARRY REID AT THE PHONE NUMBERS BELOW!
Speaker Pelosi: (202) 225-0100 Majority Leader Reid: (202) 224-3542 If you aren't sure of what to say, just say this: "Hi, My name is _______________. I am calling from (Your city, your state). I want you to know that health care reform that does not stop autism insurance discrimination is unacceptable. People with autism deserve coverage for the treatments and therapies that will help their medical condition. Thank you." Be patient. Be polite. Keep dialing until you get through to them. Then do it again. 2. CLICK TO SEND A MESSAGE TO MAJORITY LEADER REID AND SPEAKER PELOSI, URGE THEM TO WATCH THE AUTISM SPEAKS AD AND TO END AUTISM INSURANCE DISCRIMINATION! Make sure to add some personal information on why this is such an important issue for you and your family. Be sure to let them know that all children with autism from coast to coast deserve appropriate insurance coverage. 3. FORWARD THIS ACTION ALERT ACROSS THE COUNTRY! Put this action alert on your Facebook page, Twitter it, forward to Yahoo groups and local support groups. Forward this email to at least 20 people that do NOT have a child with autism - neighbors, extended family, coworkers, old college and highschool friends - and ask them to make these two calls every day for your child. |
| The health care reform debate in this country is reaching a fever pitch. Autism insurance reform can and should be included in the final health care reform bill that President Obama has stated he will sign by the end of October. This is the time to end autism insurance discrimination once and for all. Our children have a medical condition which deserves appropriate treatment, therapy and care. Congress needs to know that health care “reform” that fails to stop autism insurance discrimination is unacceptable.
To stay updated on this initiative and more, register at http://www.autismvotes.org! Together we will achieve the autism insurance reform that our nation's children need and deserve. With kindest regards, Elizabeth Emken Vice President, Government Relations Autism Speaks
